Splish, Splash, Penrith Beach has opened with a Bash!

I am proud to announce that after a $2.5 million renovation Penrith’s very own beach has opened for a second summer season. With over 215,000 visitors last year, Penrith Beach is Western Sydney’s coolest summer destination.

Amid heatwaves, like the one that gripped the region in late November, delivering temperatures over 39oC for two days, can be dangerous. The demand for a free, local swimming spot is rooted in need, with western Sydney routinely experiencing temperatures significantly higher – up to 10oC hotter – than the rest of the city.

As part of the Labor Government’s recent upgrades to the accessibility and facilities at the beach. As part of the upgrades, beachgoers will no longer need to book parking as more than 300 spots have been made available to the public.

While Penrith Beach will offer many residents’ supervised respites from Penrith’s heat under the careful watch of our qualified lifeguards, swimmers must remain vigilant and safe while using the lake.

To ensure you and your family have a fun day out remember to:

  • Stay hydrated and take regular breaks in the shade.
  • Be sun-smart: wear sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
  • Always supervise children near the water.
  • Follow lifeguard instructions for a safe swim.
  • Check weather updates before heading out.

Penrith Beach will remain open from 10am to 7pm every day, including Christmas, until the season ends on 27 April 2025.

Largest Class of New Police Officers in a Decade Sworn into the NSW Police Force

On Monday, the NSW Police Force (NSWPF) proudly welcomed 298 new Probationary Constables, marking a historic moment as the largest class to graduate in a decade.

It was a pleasure to meet with 7 of these new Probationary Constables who have been allocated to Nepean Police Area Command. The historic class comes off the back of the Labor Government’s introduction of a pay subsidy scheme for studying officers, two recently announced programs specifically aimed at attracting both experience officers and regional recruits, and the abolishment of the wages cap.

This is an important step in our government’s long-term plan to rebuild our essential services, including addressing the recruitment and retention crisis of frontline workers.

They will undertake general duties police work and gain valuable experience working alongside their seasoned colleagues.

The graduation of this record-breaking class not only strengthens the NSWPF but also ensures the safety and security of communities across New South Wales.

Thank you for your support in 2024! Wishing you and your family a safe and happy festive season.

My office will be closed from 1:00pm Friday, 20 December and will reopen on Monday, 6 January 2025.
